What is Tournament of Minds?

Tournament of Minds (ToM) is an International program designed to give participants the opportunity to participate in creative activities involving stimulating open-ended Challenges which demand experimentation and reward divergent thinking.

ToM promotes learning and developing as an individual within a team structure.

How to Participate

You will need to Register your school to participate in the Tournament of Minds.

Tournaments are run annually, by each Branch and coincides with the school year. Each Branch will set their own Tournament timeframe.

Details of the Tournament for each Branch can be found on the respective branch home pages.

This is basically how Tournament runs:

  1. School Registration opens on a specific date, for a set timeframe.
  2. Team Nominations Open. (may overlap with Registration close)
  3. Competition. Your Branch will conduct a Branch Competition (for larger branches this will be done by Region)
  4. Your Branch may conduct a Branch Final with the winning Teams from each Region
  5. National/International Final

School Registration

You must Register your school to compete in the Tournament of Minds. Registration is done through the ToM Portal.

You will need a website Facilitator log in Account which will be associated with your school. Instructions on how to create an account can be found on the Create Account page.

School Registration is only required once per school for each Tournament year.

Payment can be made by Credit Card using our secure eWay payment service or by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), the details of which will set out on the invoice.

Will be billed in Australian Dollars (AUD).

School Registration Cost

$300 AUD per school (which includes one team) 1
$50 AUD per additional team. 2

Registration includes School Registration + Anticipated Teams (one or more Teams)

There is no limit to the number of teams a school can enter. Each school can enter any number of teams in any of the disciplines.

1. Registration includes School Registration + One Team
2. While Registration will include one Team, you can indicate any number of 'Anticipated Teams'
3. A school is defined by its Campus. Each campus will need to have a separate registration
4. You can add Additional Teams later at Team Nomination time.

Refund Policy for School Registration

School Registration is final and non-refundable.

Team Nomination

Team Nominations are separate to Registration. At the conclusion of the School Registrations period, Team Nominations will open.

Facilitators will be required to create their Teams.

Information required:

  • The Team's selected Challenge
  • The Team's Sector (this may be pre-determined by the school's sector)
  • The name of each student, Team Member with their year level
  • The name and email of each Team Member's parent or guardian
  • The details of any additional Team Facilitators

Additional Teams

You will have indicated and paid for the 'Anticipated Teams' at the time of Registration, which will have been at least one team.

During Team Nominations, you can however add additional Teams.

When Team Nominations close, you will be billed for any Additional Teams being more than the number indicated at School Registration.

Will be billed in Australian Dollars (AUD).

Additional Teams Cost

$50 AUD per team.

Additional Teams, once Finalised is final and non-refundable. Please refer to the Refunds and Return page.

Workshops

Each Branch runs several Workshops during the Tournament year which can be booked through this website.

The cost of Workshop will vary and will be indicated when making a booking.

Where a payment is required for a Workshop, it will be billed in Australian Dollars (AUD).
