An Australian educational program challenging the world to develop problem solving skills
School registrations for the 2024 competition are now open.
Teams of students can consist of students from one year group, or a mixture of year groups. There can be up to seven students per team.
Schools with an ICSEA of ≤ 1000 are eligible for sponsorship via the Fogarty Foundation, including free school and team registration for the 2024 Tournament. Please contact the WA Director at [email protected] for more information!
'What is TOM?' Workshops for Facilitators (Free)
This workshop is designed for teachers or other staff who want to learn about Tournament of Minds. This is a great first step for staff who want to introduce Tournament of Minds at their school.

The Tournament of Minds committee will be offering additional workshops to teachers and students in Term 2. Additional information will be released on this page over the Term 1/2 Holidays, so please check back!
Term 3:
Challenges released:
- The challenges will get released six weeks before the Regional Tournament. For Perth Metro teams, this means you will get your challenges on 22nd July! (Term 3, Week 2)
Team nominations
- Each team will need to nominate which of the four disciplines they will be compete in (Language Literature, Social Sciences, STEM or The ARTS). Teams can nominate their disciplines once the challenges are released.
Nominations close on the 2nd of August. Facilitators, please ensure that you have updated the TOM portal with your teams details by this date, including which discipline they chose.
Regional Tournament Presentations - 22-31 August
Our Regional Tournament is where teams get to present the solution to the long-term challenge they have been working on for six weeks, as well as complete their Spontaneous Challenge.

We are always looking at opportunities to assist regional and remote schools to be involved in our competition, including visiting additional locations or through online presentations. If you are not sure about participating due to geographical barriers, please contact us!
WA State Final - 14 September at ECU Joondalup
- The State Final is the following round of our competition. Teams will qualify for the State Final based on performance at the Regional Tournament. Qualifying teams from across the state will be informed of their placement at the end of the Regional Tournament (31st August). The State Finals are used to select our competing teams for TIF.
Term 4:
Congratulations to all the participants who entered the 2023 Competition, and qualified for the TOM International Final (TIF) in Melbourne.
The WA Committee are super proud of the achievement of our schools at TIF.
